Come celebrate Alberta Arts Days with U22 -- a collection of Canada’s most exceptionally
talented and promising young musicians under the age of 22. U22 was developed
to mentor up-coming musicians and to create credible viable performance
opportunities for exceptionally talented young musicians. U22’s extensive
network of music industry experts and veteran performing artists underwrite its
mentorship, talent, and leadership development objectives.

Lyra Brown
Lyra’s intuitive sense of
wordplay and melody writing started at an early age. Always encouraged by
her musical family, there was no shortage of musical influence around the
house. Her music is thoughtful and quirky, a sound that will make your ears do
a double take!

Paul Cresey
Some consider Paul to be one of the best emerging songwriters in Alberta.
This University of Alberta student (Education) splits his time between
writing songs and performing at the many venues across the province. Some of
his more notable past performances have been the Edmonton Folk Music Festival
(2009) and the Canmore Folk Festival (2010).
Video: Nobody Knows

Calum Graham
Calum isn’t just an exceptional musician, but a very synergistic talent and is
perhaps the first true, “fusion” artist of the 21st Century. His
exceptional musical capability and direction provides for a prestigious,
and long term artist life. Calum has garnered rave commentary for literally
appealing to a very broad age demographic.

Kalsey Kulyk
Small town, Canadian singer/songwriter Kalsey Kulyk has always had a love for
music. By the age of 3 Kalsey began performing in front of live audiences and she
hasn’t stopped ever since. In 2008, Kalsey was diagnosed with cancer.
Being more inspired than ever Kalsey kept writing, and wrote songs about
her experience, love and positivity. Kalsey is now in remission and she’s not
holding anything back.

Chris Thorsteinson, Dave Wasyliw and Murray Pulver (Doc Walker) share a story that is almost too good to be true: they are three childhood friends from small-town Manitoba who managed to stick it out for the long haul - through school band practices, through tour after tour, through marriage and children; through the good and the bad, in every sense of the phrase.
Three albums into their career, Doc Walker released Beautiful Life, an album that won the band a 2009 JUNO Award for Country Recording of the Year, six Canadian Country Music Awards in 2008 (including Album of the Year, Single of the Year and Fan's Choice Award), and three top-10 country singles. Doc Walker are a class-act driven to succeed, proving that with some good old-fashioned perseverance and raw, unbridled passion for what they do, the hopes they shared as three scrappy kids in Portage La Prairie, MB became reality. Now Canada's favourite country music trio are ready to do it all over again, and then some.

The Trews are one of Canada’s hardest working and
acclaimed rock bands. With
four albums in seven years, two of them gold; 10 Top-10 singles, two of
them No.1 and one gold; multiple awards, for best single, video and
live group; and close to 800 live shows under their belt, this Canadian rock band never rests. The
Trews are comprised of lead vocalist Colin MacDonald; his brother,
guitarist John-Angus MacDonald; cousin, drummer Sean Dalton, and
long-time friend, bassist Jack Syperek.
In May 2010, the band
released a charity single, “Highway of Heroes,” on iTunes to raise money
for the Canadian Hero Fund, which helps provide academic scholarships
to family members of fallen military personnel. The song was inspired
by the death of Captain Nichola Goddard, who grew up in Antigonish and
was also taught by the Macdonald brothers’ mother.

His true fans - and you can find them all over Canada, the United States, Europe and Australia and New Zealand - know him for his relaxed, easy-going stage shows. Gary Fjellgaard came up through Canada’s country music scene. Raised on the Prairies, he’s a champion of the vanishing West’s frontier spirit, cattle drives, wagon treks and men and women with ties to the land. Individually, they’ve won Juno Awards and Canadian Country Music Association honors (Gary’s a member of their Hall of Fame), sold hundreds of thousands of records, and they revel in life on the road, meeting new people, and sharing their songs.

When Yukon songwriters Kim Barlow and Anne Louise Genest discovered a shared joy in the string band sounds and story songs of Southern old time music, they joined their considerable musical forces (Juno-nominated Barlow on clawhammer banjo/vocals and Genest on guitar/vocals) to form Annie Lou. The fine skills of Lindy Jones on upright bass and vocals and Meredith Bates on fiddle round out the Annie Lou roster.
Annie Lou’s lush vocal harmonies, beautifully crafted songs, and solid musical chops capture audiences when these northern women take the stage. In performance the band gathers around one microphone in the traditional acoustic setting of old time music. Their songs reflect the solitude and grit of their northern home and draw a straight line to other times and places.

Cole doesn't apologize for sounding like his brother, Nat "King" Cole. There are certain unmistakable similarities. He plays piano and sings and performs live with guitar and upright bass, just like Nat. Yet his voice is raspier, smokier, jazzier even. In truth, his phrasing is far closer to that of Frank Sinatra or Billie Holiday than that of his brother and his timing swings a little more. His vocals - suave, elegant, formidable, and articulate - are among the most respected in jazz. Cole has a style and musical sophistication all his own.
Freddy recreates that warm, nostalgic spirit with the classics,
including "The Christmas Song" and "White Christmas." The music is
interwoven with family tales of Christmas' past from the Cole family. The legendary Freddy Cole, with the distinctive "Cole" family voice,
unwraps your favourite holiday gems in this unforgettable Christmas
show.

of the Canadian music scene, Dala are poised to
bring their harmonies and fresh brand of acoustic pop to the world. Amanda Walther and Sheila
Carabine of Dala
(the duo’s name was formed by combining the two last letters of each
artist’s name) have come a long way in a short time. The two best friends, who met in their high school music class and wrote
their first song together in 2002, have since performed at Toronto’s
legendary Massey Hall a total of six times. Drawing upon influences like
The Beatles, Joni
